My Wedding Planning Bucket List

Some planners dream of doing weddings in far-flung exotic locations like the Caribbean or Italy or Hawaii. Not this gal. It’s been my good fortune to visit all of those regions, and I love them all, but we have some pretty wonderful destinations for spectacular weddings right here on our doorstep. So I’d like to share with you my own personal Wedding Planning Bucket List:

Niagara Wine Country

In my fantasy world I’m planning a romantic, early autumn wedding at Ravine Vineyard. Harvest season is the perfect time of year to celebrate with local wine and delicious local food, set in a spectacular location. And, unlike many wineries, they welcome weddings!

Prince Edward County

Imagine your summer wedding on the beach. Followed by a kick-ass reception at the brand new Drake Devonshire Inn in The County. This venue is so brand new it isn’t even open yet (they’re hoping for Summer 2014). The Drake on the Lake will feature local food and local wine, but with a beach vibe, Upper Canada style.  They won’t be hosting events at least until 2015, but when they’re ready, I’ll be there.

Sequel Inn | Creemore Weddings

Sequel Inn, Creemore

My fantasy location for a winter wedding is the Sequel Inn in charming Creemore (just minutes from the  famous Creemore Springs brewery). Set on a beautiful 50 acres this urban chic country retreat boasts all the amenities one could want – including first class cuisine from chef Eric te BoekhorstSequel Inn is the perfect elegant getaway for a cozy winter wedding, tucked in the Purple Hills.

Despite what I said in the opening paragraph about preferring to stay close to home, I will admit that I am totally prepared to help out George Clooney and his lovely fiancee Amal Alamuddin. As destinations go, an August wedding at George’s Lake Como villa sounds pretty darn wonderful.
