You Love Who You Love

My Big Fab Gay Garden Wedding | World Pride 2014

On June 10, 2003 Michael Stark and Michael Leshner stepped into the history books when they became the first gay couple in Canada to be legally married.

The marriage of The Two Michaels (as they are affectionately known) opened the door in Canada – and beyond – to thousands of gay and lesbian couples embracing their now legal right to marry.

Fast forward 11 years to June 25, 2014 when Toronto Botanical Garden will host a free group wedding of intimate proportions for about 20 LGBTQ couples. This official World Pride Affiliate Event  will celebrate love in the colourful embrace of Mother Nature; more specifically, in the new Perennial Border at the TBG.

One of my favourite musical artists is John Mayer. (Please don’t judge me. I know not everyone is a fan.)  A song from his most recent album, Paradise Valley, is Who You Love.  It’s a simple, gentle little pop song, but it packs a powerful message.

To me it sums up a clear reality: we love who we love. And all love is worth celebrating.

I am very proud and excited to be part of the Fab Team – and believe me when I tell you it is a FAB team. If you or a couple you know is interested in participating in My Big Fab Gay Garden Wedding simply click here for all the details. Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
